The place was calm and the location was just right. It was clean, the washroom was good, there is an ensuite kitchen with everything u need for a long stay. And all in a budget friendly manner. Loved to stay there and hopefully will come again.

There is a private entrance at the homestay for the convenience of those who stay. The accommodation offers airport transfers, while a car rental service is also available. A nice, quiet place to stay in the Cinnamon Gardens away from the frenetic city center. The rooms are large and bright and the house is lovely. The host is very wonderful and helpful, a delight to talk to. We really enjoyed our stay there. We’d be happy to stay there again on our next trip to Sri Lanka. There is not much to eat around the guest house, it is a quiet residential neighborhood with sports fields and offices and such. It is quite pleasant to walk around. A 200-300 rupee tuk tuk ride will bring you to several places to eat, bank etc. We highly, highly recommend eating at Ran Bath Organic which was recommended to us by the host. The food there is perhaps the best we had in our entire trip. Also, a short walk up Maitland is the Glomark supermarket where you can find a wide range of items, as well as alcohol and a pharmacy. Upstairs is a small food court. The food doesn’t really stand out, but if you don’t want to go very far to get something to eat, that’s the place to go. Skip the laundry at the side, it’s very expensive and very slow.

You can speak with her more or less anytime and she will take time to answer all your questions. I really appreciated how she adjusted to my needs and offered me a room which was perfect for me. Her son was also very supportive and even drove me to the immigration centre early in the morning. Both of them were really helpful. Thank you very much! If you are a dog lover, ask if you can play with their really sweet golden retriever (you might not see him, as he is most of the time on the backyard of the building). If you are strong enough, ask if you can take him for a walk. He will be very grateful for that.

The overall experience of staying at Mr Bawa’s Home was just exceptional. The house, its design and history are beautiful. What made the experience even more outstanding and memorable was the incredibly kind staff led by Rohana. We will always cherish our stay at Mr Bava’s place and hope to be back one day soon.

The property is located 7 km from R Premadasa Stadium, 7 km from U.S. Embassy and 8 km from Khan Clock Tower. Arcade Independence Square is 4 km away and Sinhalese Sports Club is 4.1 km from the guest house. Beautiful property in a tranquil spot by the river, wonderful service and such friendly staff. We only stayed one night but would have loved to stay more! We arrived early in the day and were offered breakfast and they were also able to have our room ready early, which was fantastic! Can't recommend Aathma Colombo House enough. We had a few hours exploring Colombo and it was quick to get to the city by Tuk Tuk.

Breakfast consisted of delicious traditional Sri Lankan food and the home and pool were very clean and well looked after. We would definitely stay again if we return to Sri Lanka.
