EVERYTHING - Manu and his wife Shishi and the house dogs were the best! we felt at home, Manu went fishing and cooked us fresh crabs, shrimps, fish more than we can eat at a very fair price. he also went fishing in the next morning again and cooked us fresh lobsters in the morning free of charge because he didnt have lobsters the night before. he is just too kind and giving. we played card games all night as a family:) rooms are clean and beds are comfy. also hot shower! dont leave this place without eating the seafood!

Location was good for us! It is a 5 minutes walk from a beautiful beach and a few minutes away from other beaches and attractions by scooter or tuk tuk. I can't say enough great things about this homestay! They arranged our transfer from Ella and arranged a morning and afternoon safari for us. We were greeted with a delicious cold coconut water, in the coconut. We chose the breakfast and dinner option which makes so much sense because the town is a bit of a walk and after a safari all day (4:30 am to 6:30 pm) it is great to have dinner at the homestay. Both dinners we had were excellent, I think the best food we've had in Sri Lanka! They also pack a breakfast to go on your safari day because of leaving so early. When you wake up they have coffee and bananas for you before leaving. Our room was a great size, ac and hot water worked well. The owners are very kind, friendly and even drove us to the bus stop, stayed with us and made sure we got on the right bus. I highly recommend Tissa Rainbow for your stay while exploring Yala National Park, you won't regret it!

The best stay in Sri Lanka so far. Priya was so helpful! He sent us the bus schedule from Ella to Tissa, he drove us around the lake to see crocodiles and birds, and bats at a late time, he also arranged the safari in Yala for us for a great price, and prepared an early breakfast before leaving at 4:30. He drove us with his tuktuk when we needed to catch the bus to Tangalle and checked that we had successfully arrived. The room was also cozy and the location of the hotel is not far from the main road.

We liked the location next to the lake and the huge amount of wildlife we could enjoy watching while sitting on the balcony or in the beautifully kept garden. The host family are extremely welcoming and we felt well looked after with suggestions on things to do and help arranging tuktuks etc. The home cooking was perhaps the best we have had in Sri Lanka and generous in proportion (1 dish will easily serve 2+) and well priced. We enjoyed a local specialty, buffalo curd with treacle see photos), amongst other dishes. The location is a little out of the city but we liked that it was quiet, peaceful and offered the lake view, the room itself is basic but what you need - think of it as glamping and the rustic nature part of the wildlife aesthetic.
