I felt like home and staying with my family. Ines and Fernando were so helpful that I didn’t feel like I was staying in a hostel. I am very thankful for their support and caring. I will come back this year again to stay there.

The most humorous part of my experience was when the owner asked me if I could check in the morning after and I had to explain to him that doing so would defeat the purpose of having a reservation. He also demanded that I come before other potential guests indicating a first come, first served basis despite my clear reservation. I have used Booking.com extensively in a range of countries with frequency for over a decade and have not till now given a bad review. The fact that I have dedicated any time to this is a reflection of extreme avoidance of hospitality that this hostel demonstrated. There is a special category of property owner in Argentina that I have not encountered in other parts of the world that consistently demonstrates disregard for his word, employees and guests. At this hostel it was beyond anything I had previously encountered. Primarily my safety was not taken into consideration. Whilst prearranged I was left outside on an empty street in the early hours of the morning. When it was pointed out to the staff member when she finally arrived she did not acknowledge the concern. At check in I had to tell the staff member to move out of the hostel dormitory to explain her offerings as she walked into a room full of sleeping people in the early hours of the morning and was speaking in a loud voice, waking people up. I asked a friend to communicate with the hostel prior to my arrival as the hostel was not responsive to booking.com messages and I had competing travel priorities. Once details were confirmed with her they reneged and I had to start again the conversation. Neither I, nor my friend should have had to make a call as we essentially had to negotiate for the owner to comply with the conditions already laid out in the initial booking. My friend described the conversation with the owner as disrespectful.

The absolute best thing about this place is the lovely hug you get from Eleyna whenever you enter. She is the warmest most friendly person. Her son Facu is also really lovely and friendly too. They were always ready to help with any questions and even insisted on getting up in the middle of the night to help me call a taxi and say goodbye, despite my best efforts to say it wasn’t necessary. Additionally, the beds are comfy, the bottom bunks have curtains, the shower is always hot, the place is absolutely beautiful with lovely art and murals everywhere, and there is a kitchen. It’s in a quiet area and only a 30 minute walk to the centre. There was a nice area upstairs in the kitchen where it was easy to socialise and meet other travellers.
