The place is very comfortable and quiet, it has a nice garden with a pool, surrounded by palm trees, the common spaces and the bathroom and kitchen are kept clean and tidy. My room was very nice, with a fan and a window, just enough to spend a good stay. The owners are very kind and friendly, on the trip to Cairns I lost the key to my suitcase and they had no problem breaking the lock and quickly fixing the problem. It is very well located, next to the bus and train station, next to a large shopping center where there is a good supermarket to stock up and about 10 minutes from the pier and the seafront, so you can do everything on foot. Thanks Tim and Paul I wish you all the luck in your hostel!! Really very nice!!

I recently stayed at Mad Monkey Village and I had a good time there! They have free breakfast that includes fresh pancakes every morning, that's a huge plus. On Monday there is also a free BBQ. What I also liked was the travel desk directly in the hostel, where you can get some good deals. The hostel in general is clean and tidy. It's a really social place and the perfect, if you want to meet new people.

The staff are super helpful and accommodating. I absolutely loved the place in terms of value for money, it exceeded my expectations for a backpackers and the free shuttle heading to and from town was awesome!!! that mitigated the distance from Cairns central. Stayed in the four-bed room for girls. Met some wonderful people. The place felt safe and clean. I really quite enjoyed every bit of my stay so thanks Summer House!

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
