The family room we had was great. The set up of the beds was perfect. The beds were large and comfortable. The common areas were spacious and welcoming. We were so impressed by the Piece Hostel Sanjo. We didn’t know what to expect given it’s a hostel. But our expectations were blown away. It’s a very modern, clean and cool place.

If you're looking for a near-authentic homestay, this is the place to go. The owner goes out of his way every morning to make sure there's an extensive breakfast buffet in the communal room, which feels like an actual living room. Beds are comfortable, shower is great and there are laundry facilities all next to this cute garden. We've been here twice now and we'll probably be back some more times. Also Jiro is still as amazing as ever ;)

So happy with this hostel! It was clean, comfy and great price! I liked the location, 20min away from the train station on foot. I stayed for 2 night in a female dorm and everything was above my expectations. Bathrooms were super clean, they also changed my towel! Which is something you don't usually find in hostels. I liked that it was quite and people were very respectful of each other, which helped me having great sleep. I absolutely recommend it to those of you who are looking for calm and relaxing vibe, maybe less social, but I value more my sleep..so, you choose.

The location was excellent, and although street noise was loud, earplugs at night worked well. My room was so lovely, simple but pleasing, and clean. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The facilities were fantastic, the common room so lovely, and having the bar and cafe downstairs was excellent for a solo traveller when I felt like company.

I had a great stay at PIECE Hostel Sanjo. Central location next to Nishiki market, Pontocho Alley and several restaurants and shops. I booked a bed in a female shared dormitory. Comfy and intimate bed, with a safe to store valuable items if needed. Only women toilet and shower also available. I would definitely recommend it!!

One of best hostels I've stayed at! Great location in a very traditional local street that barely sees any tourists. The property itself is a traditional house. Clean and very comfortable. Washing machine and detergent available for FREE, and balcony for hang-drying. Plenty of hangers in the room and in the balcony. Spacious common room.
