I enjoyed my stay here! I just needed to stay for one night before I flew home, and it was well worth it. The staff were very friendly, and I felt welcomed into the family. I was the only guest that night, and I was upgraded to a bigger room, which was very kind of them! When I arrived, I was quite hungry and they were quick to make me a snack while I waited for dinner. The dinner and breakfast was good too. It was close enough to the airport that I could walk there in the morning.

What an oasis of calm Mgulani Lodge hotel offers. Having never been to Dar, we were so grateful of the The Salvation Army Compound this hostel is linked with, offering a space of tranquility in a city that feels like it never stops. It very quickly felt like a home away from home. And the staff were willing to help with anything you asked. It was a real pleasure meeting the team, and even better knowing any money they make off your room booking goes into helping other programmes that the organisation are running in Tanzania.

    The hostel is a very safe, quite upscale neighbourhood, where I saw a lot of embassies or ambassador residences. The room was comfortable enough, especially when the A/C was on, which depended on other guests being cold or not. The breakfast was good, considering the price, and it helped get the day started with energy. The swimming pool is a great bonus, as it is very hot in Dar es Salaam, so a dip is always welcome.

    Absolutely loved this hostel! The owners and staff are the loveliest people. The location is great and very safe. There are cafes, restaurants and a supermarket nearby. 15min walk to the beach. The breakfast was really nice. I stayed in the female dorm and it was very clean and spacious. I will definitely be going back at the end of my trip!
