Taupo is 40 km from the hostel. We loved our stay at Riverstone Lodge! The lodge was extremely clean, the rooms were sizeable and comfy, and the lodge itself was super cozy. The kitchen had everything you could possibly want - coffee, french press, dishes, oven, microwave, etc. There were tons of games in the common room. The check in and check out process was super easy. The lodge is walking distance to a number of restaurants. Everything was great! We wished we could have stayed longer.

Taupo is an absolute mecca for all things outdoors – including hiking the famous Tongariro crossing, trout fishing, skydiving, jet boating, white water rafting, mountain biking and sailing on the Great Lake with the hostel's yacht 'Fearless'. Dorms were really nice, the hammocks and been bags chair were very nice as well. Kitchen was big and very clean, very much enjoyed my time

He gives great tips of things to do in the area and he helps people to adjust their plans to the weather conditions. The common areas of the retreat are great. The room was clean and comfortable. Wifi was great.

Fabulous warm lounge. A special gear drying room. Great kitchen . In the reviews June 2023 a woman complained about the signs but some people in hostels and b/ps almost need a death threat to remind them to clean up.
