Taupo is 40 km from the hostel. It was such a cute hostel, absolutely amazing. I was lucky enough staying with other guests that were baking cookies and scones for everybody and people were open and friendly. Room was clean and super nice - and the owner is very friendly too.

Taupo is an absolute mecca for all things outdoors – including hiking the famous Tongariro crossing, trout fishing, skydiving, jet boating, white water rafting, mountain biking and sailing on the Great Lake with the hostel's yacht 'Fearless'. Sleeping in the pod was really nice, you had your privacy and it was very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is very clean, organised and big, so a lot of people could fit there easily and still not get too crowded. I liked the idea of different activities even if I stayed only for 2 night and didn’t participated. I loved the locker for the food; no one was really using a padlock but the fact of having your own space to put your food was really good. Everything was really clean.
