Fatmir & Fjona
Our guesthouse is part of the Aliko family home, where we proudly represent the 9th generation born and raised under the same roof. Steeped in tradition, the house showcases the authentic architecture of the Labëria region—a charming two-story stone house that tells the story of our roots. Guests are welcome to relax in the front garden, a cozy space perfect for enjoying meals or simply unwinding. At the back, a spacious yard opens to breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, where we grow a variety of Mediterranean fruit trees and seasonal vegetables, all nurtured with care by our family. Our home offers two unique rooms: “Magjeri” (22 m²) with a king-size bed and two sofa beds, and “Oda” (25 m²) with a queen-size bed, a single bed, and a bunk bed. Both have garden views and share a cozy living room with fireplace, outdoor toilets and shower giving guests an authentic countryside experience. Staying here is more than a visit—it's a warm invitation to experience our heritage, our land, and the genuine hospitality of a home that has welcomed generations.
Fatmir is a national tour guide and after ten years of experience he decided to renovate the ancestral home into a guesthouse and share his history and the beauties of the village with his guests. While Fjona comes from an office background and left the capital for the quiet peaceful life in the village with their newborn son and to support Fatmir with Zhulat Ecovillage project. They love sharing traditional recipes with the guests with their home-cooked meals using organic, locally grown ingredients, many from their own garden. Most dishes are prepared over an open fire, following the age-old culinary traditions of the region. Often, elderly neighbor ladies join in the kitchen, generously sharing their wisdom and traditional recipes—turning each meal into a cultural exchange. They also preserve seasonal products using traditional techniques, such as drying, pickling, jam-making, cheese-making and they love inviting their guests to join in these hands-on experiences. Staying in their home means becoming part of a living tradition, where every corner tells a story, and every meal is a celebration of local heritage.
Nestled on a hillside at 400 meters above sea level, this almost-abandoned village is surrounded by an amphitheater of towering mountains, lush greenery, and an idyllic landscape. It offers a peaceful retreat into nature, with numerous hiking trails and a crystal-clear river perfect for cooling off in the summer heat. This ancient village has been inhabited for thousands of years and is known for its rich cultural heritage, especially the traditional Iso-Polyphony singing, recognized as a UNESCO intangible cultural treasure. Today, only a few families—mostly from the older generation—still live here, and they warmly welcome visitors, often sharing stories, songs, art & crafts with the younger generation and curious travelers. A visit here is not just a stay in nature, but a journey into Albania’s living history and soul.
