Shahane Khachikyan
In the district of Small Meghri (Poqr Tagh), on top of the mountain right next to where the church of St John the Baptist is located, the Khachats Toun (the House of the Khachikyan family) presides over a majestic view of the town. This is the oldest remaining house in Meghri with a history spanning over two centuries and has been home to dozens of generations that lived and left their mark on it. It has an exhibition hall where you can get acquainted with the talent of the Khachikyan family, countless oddities and secrets that have grown in the many years the home was lived in – a wine cellar, a traditional Armenian tonir, a bukhari (Armenian stone fireplace/oven), as well as countless handcrafted souvenirs and oddities – each with a story to tell. Here you can spend the night, roam the town, experience the local culture and lifestyle, taste Meghri's plentiful harvests and the delicious local cuisine prepared from local ecologically pure produce. You will also have a chance to take part in the many historical, extreme and eco tours organized in the vicinity of Meghri.
Khachats Toun is the only guesthouse of its kind, it offers an absolutely unique and unforgettable experience.
