Experience the uniqueness of Thompson's Hut, built in the early 1900's as a shelter for cattlemen on the Snowy Plains caring for their livestock during unpredictable mountain weather. The Hut was relocated to our property several years ago and we have undertaken a sensitive restoration to retain its original essence while adding a few modern comforts.
We will be available via email or sms and have a housekeeper who works with us to resolve any onsite problems.
We are a 52 acre working sheep farm just out of Jindabyne. Old Cobbin Homestead is a short drive to Jindabyne along the Barry Way, 20 mins from the Ski Tube to Perisher ski resort and 30-35 mins to Thredbo village and ski resort. The Barry Way is a bitumen road, however, when turning into the driveway you will drive over a cattle grate onto a well-maintained graded road base. It is VERY important you drive SLOWY (10-12 km/hr) along this road. We have neighbours, horses, sheep and other wildlife that share our driveway. When it snows or rains, speeding on the road is dangerous. Parking is free and plentiful but please only park where advised. Thank you.
