Originally developed in 1966, the Central Tourist Park was established on reclaimed land, one of the biggest reclaimation projects in Mackay at that time. The original park was one of the first sewered parks in Queensland. The site also boast some historical facts - being thought to be the site of the original crossing early settlers used to cross the pioneer river - some evidence remains today. The land is also part of the 3rd freehold block in Mackay and the 10000th in Queenland. An original homestead was located on the site by early settlers, which had an internal well within the house. The second redevelopment was undertaken from the late 1970's which now include swimming pool, campers kitchen and free bar-b-q's as well as free Wi-Fi. Surrounded by tall swaying coconut palms and within approx. 3 km to Mackay City Heart.
Within walking distance to Bakery, Newsagent, Service Station, Subway, Butcher, Tyre repair, Pizza, Fish & Chips, Church, Medical Centre, Restaurant, Iga Supermarket, Hotel. Located on Malcomson St, the former bruce hi-way, with reduced traffic. Located some 4 km to K Mart Mt Pleasant Shopping Centre and Tavern and a short drive to Mackay Harbour and Northern Beaches
