We are located on a private 130 acre property just 10 minutes from the large town of Bairnsdale in the Gippsland Lakes and Wilderness region. The apartments have been built inside the earth and the roof is a garden. Very close by are the lakes, rivers, oceans and forests. Walk, hike, swim, cycle, go fishing, and see native birds and animals in their natural environment. Visit wineries, local markets or the nearby micro-brewery. Our location is central to all of this and its elevation offers some of the best views in the region. We have worked hard to create this very different and unique space, the only accommodation of its type in Australia. We are proud to be able to share this very special place with guests.
We have had careers in education and have followed our passion for sustainable living. Our buildings are unconventional and are almost hidden on this spectacular property. Following our passion for being different has allowed us to create something special, a surprise, that we now share with guests.
In escaping the publicity of destinations that have been promoted more, East Gippsland has quietly flown under the radar of many. This truly stunning Lakes and Wilderness region offers rivers, lakes and the ocean environments in addition to farmland and forests. From this location, visitors can explore all of this and more, including the high country of Omeo and beyond, the caves at Buchan and National Parks. Exploration and activity can be mixed with relaxation. Take some time to enjoy the best coffee shops, wineries, the micro-brewery and restaurants. There is no better place to see native birds and animals in their natural environment. This is a wonderful place for staying for a night if travelling between Sydney and Melbourne but in general, guests staying for one night are disappointed that they did not stay longer.
