This unique well-appointed, self-contained luxurious dwelling is nestled on an east to west spur of the coastal range & has a special quirky style of its own. With spectacular breathtaking panoramic views in every direction, the location is one of the most picturesque & stunning lookout points on the Capricorn Coast. A short 12min drive north of Yeppoon toward Byfield National Park, it's the perfect getaway spot to chill-out or base yourself to discover everything the Capricorn Coast has on offer.
While ideally suited for an individual couple, there are options to comfortably accommodate up to four adult guests. The overall size of the building is approx 100 sq mtrs of floor space (including loft/sunroom space). The layout of the main bedroom/lounge area is similar to a 'studio apartment', with a king bed plus a comfortable queen size sofa bed. The loft/sunroom space (10sq mtrs), situated above the dining room/kitchen area also has a a very comfortable ‘shut-eye’ futon sofa bed which, when folded out, is slightly larger that a king-size single bed.
The beautiful sweeping views from 'picture' windows in every room transform throughout the day with the changing light & gorgeous sunsets from the outdoor bbq area provide the perfect backdrop for early cocktails. The loft is also great for early morning cups of coffee or tea and watching the fog drift through the valley.
A short 30mtr walk away for the accommodation, guests can also access and enjoy our stunning pool area. Surrounded by volcanic boulders in a tropical landscaped setting of magnificent foxtail palms, it also provides access to The Lookout's tranquil grounds comprised of a hectare of free-form gardens with rambling buffalo grass lawns, shade and fruit trees, and terraced walkways. These grounds are one of the most sort after and popular wedding venues in the region .
The Lookout is a family run business. Your hosts Bill & Pauline are long-term residents of the area who are friendly, outgoing and will do everything possible to make you feel welcome & help ensure your stay on their beautiful mountain retreat is both relaxing & a truly memorable experience. If you are new visitors to the Capricorn Coast they have a wealth of local knowledge to share and will be delighted to assist you with suggestions of places to see & things to do including attractions to visit, great restaurants as well as arts & cultural activities in the region.
Bill is a musician, singer songwriter, event coordinator, former entertainment promoter and well known identity who serve four terms as Mayor & past Chairman of the Capricorn Coast Tourist Organization. He is also an avid recreational fisherman with extensive knowledge of the local waters and was a founding member of the Local Marine Advisory Committee and Great Barrier Reef Guardian Councils Steering Committee.
Pauline has a professional background as a former practicing Clinical Nurse & her interests include the arts, performing in local choirs, assisting with community events & activities. She is also a passionate avid gardener & grandmother who enjoys water aerobics, yoga, meditation retreats and travel.
The Lookout is located in the locality of Woodbury and is situated opposite Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary, a major award-winning regional tourist attraction which features dinosaur and mega-fauna interpretive displays, unique Putt Putt experience, koalas, kangaroos, cassowaries, emus and other native fauna and reptiles including a mature crocodile.
The surrounding scenic rural locales also feature rare and tropical fruit local orchards, cattle breeding, lifestyle farms and access to other tourist attraction including the renowned Nobb Creek Pottery.
With near 360 degree views The Lookout property provides a vantage point that gives an overview of many major landmarks and their locations including vast areas of 'ramsar' wetlands that comprise the southern end of the Byfield National Park.
The Lookout property itself also has historic significance having been an observation post during WWII when the Capricorn Coast was identified as a potential likely invasion point.
