Welcome to The Ridge House—your private country escape set on 50 acres of stunning Gippsland bushland, just 90 minutes from Melbourne. Here, you’ll discover a unique blend of relaxed luxury, warm hospitality, and the beauty of nature right at your doorstep.
Inside, The Ridge House welcomes you with inviting country décor and two indoor fireplaces, both set and ready for you to light and enjoy as soon as you arrive. Large windows showcase sweeping views towards Mt Baw Baw, while the north-facing verandah and “Loggers Lookout” deck are perfect for soaking up sunsets or spotting native wildlife.
Your stay includes generous breakfast provisions that support local producers—think fresh sourdough, country butter, homemade jam, milk, and free-range eggs. You’ll also find a selection of local wines, honey, and jam available for purchase on site, so you can sample the best of the region during your stay.
The Ridge House is ideal for couples, families, friends, and your fur-friends — pets are warmly welcomed. There are two private walking trails, one part of a historic logging tramway, and a unique outdoor fire pit crafted by a local artist for stargazing or toasting marshmallows under the southern sky.
At The Ridge House, every detail is designed to help you feel at home—from thoughtful amenities to local tips and personalised service. Come and experience the magic of Gippsland, where you can rest, reconnect, and create unforgettable memories.
Hello Travellers 👋
I’m Kristy, your host and owner of The Ridge House. I’m passionate about creating a memorable and welcoming experience for every guest. I believe in genuine hospitality, attention to detail, and sharing the beauty of our unique location with fellow travellers from all walks of life.
Some fun facts about me: I’m a mum, farmer (my husband Neil and I own Green Hills Farm next door), qualified yoga instructor, budding ceramicist, and self-confessed stationery addict. I love food and wine, and enjoy growing and cooking my own food — though I leave the wine making to the talented producers in the area. You’ll find some of their bottles available for purchase in our little ‘support local’ pantry during your stay.
The Ridge House is more than just a holiday home — it’s an extension of me and my hospitality. It’s a thoughtfully curated retreat designed to help you unwind and reconnect with nature. Whether you’re here for a weekend escape or an extended getaway, your time here will create memories, nourish your soul, and connect you back to nature and your loved ones.
Welcome to West Gippsland. I’m excited to share the magic of our region—day hikes, mountain biking, farmer markets and a thriving food and wine scene are all within easy reach.
Farmers Markets
Below are a few favourites, but check out the Visit Gippsland website for the full schedule.
1. Trafalgar Farmers Market: Every first Saturday
2. Rokeby Market: Every second Saturday from September to May
3. Warragul Farmers Market: Every third Saturday
4. Yarragon Art & Craft Market: Every fourth Saturday
Where to Eat!
My top picks, but read Visit Gippsland's online EAT DRINK guide for a full run down.
1. Messmate Dining: Best regional restaurant in 2025. All local produce and excellent service.
2. Hogget Kitchen: Chef Trevor Perkins crafts unforgettable dishes using local ingredients—try his charcuterie board, smoked in-house.
3. Yarragon Hotel: Classic pub meals and takeaway pizzas for a cosy night by the fire. Friday nights are lively with a weekly raffle.
Yarragon Town
You can easily spend a few hours strolling our charming hometown. It’s a treasure trove of boutique shops, galleries, and cafés. Discover unique gifts, handmade ceramics (a personal obsession!), and fantastic vintage finds. There’s a town map at The Ridge House to guide you. My favourite cafés are Piccolos and Gippsland Food & Wine. The bakery pies are also a must-try! Visit Town & Country Gallery for local artists!
Hiking & Biking
The nearby Mount Worth State Park offers scenic trails through towering mountain ash forests, while Toorongo & Amphitheatre Falls Loop provides 2 waterfalls. Mountain bike tracks are thriving across Gippsland; guests love Erica Mountain Bike Park and Haunted Hills. There are plenty of bush trails too—check Visit Gippsland for all the details.
Whether you’re here for the markets, the food, the hiking, or just to unwind, The Ridge House is your gateway to West Gippsland’s best. I look forward to welcoming you and sharing my favourite local tips!
