The Retreat offers idyllic country views and perfect location to explore the surroundings. A comfortable and modern country retreat on a rural property. Large, light and airy open living space with views out over farmland, forest and water. The Retreat has a fully equipped, spacious kitchen and covered back deck with outdoor furniture. The Retreat provides 1 bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. There is an additional king-size day bed in the lounge, so up to 4 people can be accommodated, all sharing the single ensuite bathroom. The Retreat is attached to the main building, it has separate guest driveway, parking and a private entrance. There are no shared internal areas. There is a large grassy backyard which backs on to 3 acres of magnificent trees and ponds that you are free to explore. We do however ask that guests do not enter the adjoining market gardens without permission.
We are a well-travelled couple living the country life in Trentham East. Since we took on this property in 2015, we've been lucky enough to share this beautiful part of Victoria with guests. We have also been working toward our goal of self-sufficiency and establishing a market garden. If you see us out and about working on the gardens - feel free to say g'day! We are always happy to have a chat if you want to know more about the gardens, surroundings and things to do around here.
Trentham East is located in an idyllic rural setting between the Macedon Ranges and Hepburn Springs surrounded by farm lands and bordering the Wombat State Forest. Open green pastures, towering forests and wonderful country lanes abound. In the vicinity are Trentham Falls (spectacular after rain), Diggers Garden of St Erth (with established gardens, nursery and cafe), and the historic township of Blackwood (nestled in amongst the forest trees). In terms of food, you might want to explore Trentham's ever-popular Red Beard Bakery (with 'real' sourdough and spontaneous tours of their original Scottish oven), the famous Du Fermier run by chef Annie Smithers (better make your booking early!), and the charming local pub The Pig and Whistle (just 15 minute walk up the road). You can also easily drive to Daylesford, Kyneton and Woodend. Most towns around have a weekend market at least once a month. There is a tourist information centre in Woodend if you are stuck for ideas.
