This romantic holiday home is a typical Flemish farmhouse, built in 1805, with wooden beams. It has a very cozy atmosphere and although the house is very authentic, it provides modern sanitary, a fully equipped kitchen, central heating and wifi. It is comfortable and atmospheric in all seasons, as much inside as outside, as much at the barbecue as near the wood stove, as much on the terrace as around the table of the dining room, and it is as nice to relax in the garden as to play an exciting game at the pool table. Its a great place to come back in the evening after a tiring day trip and a charming place to stay, all year round.
We are a Belgian family with 2 grown-up kids, receiving guests in our romantic farmhouse for more than 25 years! The last years we have done major improvement works, like insulating the roof double glass windows, a second bathroom and separate toilet upstairs, next to the bedrooms, new stairs, new sofa, new outdoor furniture... All the bedrooms have been freshly repainted and re-decorated. We hope you will like it!
The farmhouse is settled in a quiet village in Flanders, with many possibilities for hiking and cycling in the green rolling landscape, but it is also very well situated for visiting the charming towns like Ghent, Antwerp, Bruges, Ostend, Ypres, Brussels, Lille (F), etc. It can be as pleasant and interesting to explore the close neighborhood as to visit one of the many towns. The neighborhood is well known as the only protestant settlement in Catholic Flanders, named "the Geuzenhoek". The old and new church and the picturesque little graveyard with the enormous tree are worth a visit! And for the cycling-lovers: the farmhouse is situated in the middle of the "TOUR OF FLANDERS", the biggest cycling event in Belgium, always on the 1st Sunday of April.
