Viewing the Northern Lights from inside the comfort of the cabin. See photo attached. You could also "scout" the lights while lying in bed. We took turns as spotters and were well rewarded, even on nights where Google said there was very little...

Very kind host. He carefully explained how to use the cabin and recommended places. I think it's the best place to see the aurora borealis because the surrounding brightness is low and there's nothing blocking the view to the northeast.

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. The cabin was well supplied with kitchen equipment to make your own meals and the shower was a luxury after our summer in the bush.

Es begann schon mit dem warmen Willkommen von Lara, die sogar Blümchen vorbei brachte. Die Ausstattung bietet alles, was man braucht. Das Bett ist super bequem. Ein kleiner elektrischer Kamin passt zum Ambiente des Cabins. Wenn ich das Gefühl...

20-25 minutes out of city. Quiet and relaxing after busy traffic and lots of people. Close enough to travel around and explore.

Our cabin is an ideal location for Northern Lights viewing (September - early April) and summer vacation in the Whitehorse area. There is no light pollution and a perfect view of the northern sky. Our property is located within 1/2 hour drive of Whitehorse, yet surrounded by Yukon Wilderness. The cabin is newly constructed in 2016, private, clean and comfortable. This is a 2 room log cabin. There is a bedroom and full bathroom with toilet, sink, shower and heated floor. The main room contains a futon and dining table and kitchenette along one wall. It is conveniently heated with electric baseboards, so regardless of the outside temperature it is always as warm as you want it to be. We have large windows in the main room that allow for watching Northern Lights and the feeling of the outdoors inside. The kitchen is equipped with induction cooktops, a microwave, electric kettle, toaster, coffee press, under counter refrigerator, pots and pans, dishes and flatware, and dish washing supplies. There is a bedroom with a Queen bed and in the main area there is a sofa bed which is ideal for one adult but can fit two snugly. Wireless internet is available in the cabin and outside as well.
My husband Gerry and I and our two small children live on a beautiful property just North of Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory. We feel fortunate to live here and love having the opportunity to share this amazing place with other people who are looking for an authentic, off-the-beaten path experience. We operate a log building business and also built this cabin ourselves. Gerry and I have both travelled a lot, all over the world and ended up immigrating to Canada in the Yukon independently from one another. Gerry is originally from Bavaria, Germany and I am from Alaska, USA. We look forward now to sharing our love of travel and exploring the world with our children.
The cabin is located about 100 meters from our residence. It faces north and offers privacy and a wonderful view of the Miner's Range and the mountains on the east side of Lake Labarge. Parking is directly next to the cabin. The large mowed field in front of the cabin can be used for ball games or the like, or for setting up your tripod to photograph the northern lights. There is a nice big campfire area with benches in front of the cabin for your use. Firewood is provided and there is a grill if you want to cook something over the fire. Within 15 minutes drive guest will find the mighty Yukon River, Eclipse Nordic Hotsprings, Lake Labarge, and Yukon Wildlife Preserve. An easy 25 minute all highway drive connects guest to all attractions of Whitehorse, as well as Whitehorse International Airport.
