Property information

We would like to warmly welcome you to the oldest house in Sempach, located right in the centre of town. The cosy style design and the old traditional objects will give you a fairytale atmosphere. To better understand the value of this place, we present some of the incredible history of the town and the house. The history of Sempach Sempach was founded in 1160 - although Neolithic traces and Bronze Age settlements have been found on the shores of the lake. It was characterized by the "Städtli" core, which is still visible today. Two towers formed the entrances to the town center, which was surrounded by a massive town wall that is still visible today. The Battle of Sempach took place around 1386. The Austrian dominion clashed with the Swiss Confederation and not far outside the town walls, Arnold Winkelried went down in history as a legendary Sempach hero - a monument is dedicated to the battle just 50 meters from here (Lion Monument - Sempach) The history of the house In the 14th century, the migration from Sempach to the city of Lucerne began and, to make matters worse, a massive fire broke out in Sempach in 1477 - this is the first historically recorded source of the house. It is one of the few houses in the town to have survived this major fire unscathed. This house is special because it has a history of more than 500 years and is one of the oldest buildings in the canton of Lucerne. You must definitely feel the history of Sempach in this house - it is unique. PS: Don't worry, a building history study from 2019 showed that the house is in very good condition, despite its great age 😊 We hope to see you soon!
