Property information

We would like to begin introducing our property House Of Shambhala with short background history about the buildign. Our property used to be one of the few schools opened for lay people in early 20th century. That was part of reform started under the great 13th to educate lay people. Before opening of these schools, monastic institutions were only places to learn to read and write. In short, only monks and nuns can read or write. When we got this property in early 2005,it was no more a school. It has turned into a communal residential house with a carpet weaving centre. During those time, only options for tourist was big hotels without any local taste. We recuited local artisans, carpenters including painters to renovate whole building to open a small tibetan styled boutique hotel so that foreign tourist could actually get a real experience of staying in a Tibetan home. It won't be an exaggeration if we claim to be the first Tibetan styled boutique hotel in Lhasa.
