La Mariposa hotel was listed in the book “1000 Places to See before You Die”, principally for the immaculate gardens and world-class views that hug every corner of the property. We are located 1 mile away from the Manuel Antonio Beach and National Park (the hotel provides a free shuttle service to/from the beach four times per day). Our property features panoramic views of the ocean and Manuel Antonio National Park, Spanish-Mediterranean design and a terrace with the most stunning infinity swimming pool in all over Costa Rica.

Nature and charm flawlessly combine with 7 well-appointed apartments in a Spanish-Mediterranean architectural design and tropical gardens with walkways and trails meticulously landscaped to reflect the natural beauty of Costa Rica’s abundant plant and wildlife.

Neighbourhood information

Ponce de León, the Spanish explorer whose futile search for the Fountain of Youth became his signature expedition, is rarely recognized for one of his greatest discoveries - Quepos and Manuel Antonio - which he put on the charts in 1519. So abundant are the riches of Costa Rica's Central Pacific coast, that he might have found his fabled fountain had he gone ashore and explored the region's. This park is just south of Quepos on the Pacific Coast, 132 km from San José. It is so popular perhaps because of its expensive white sand beaches backed by an evergreen forest that grows right up to the high tide line. The principal inhabitants are primary forest, secondary forest, mangrove swamp, lagoons and beach vegetation. There is quite a varied fauna with 109 species of mammals and 184 of birds. The park includes 12 little isles just off the coast; these are a number of dolphins and, at times, migrating whales can be observed. The Manuel Antonio National Park is a little biological island inside an area used in different activities like the agriculture, the cattle and a high tourist development.
