Brand-new and ready for guests, Casa Tortuga in Surfside is a two-story townhome with 3 big bedrooms, 2.5 baths and a private swimming pool, all within a 10-minute walk of the beach. If you like that “new home smell,” ultramodern architecture and immaculate interiors, it doesn’t get much better than this. Act now and you could be the first person to ever put anything in the fridge! The two stories are connected by flights of stairs that appear to be suspended in midair — no walls around them, just steps and a steel handrail. The open design makes the main room look huge. The kitchen is so new, we’ve barely had time to remove the plastic and tape from the stainless-steel kitchen and stove. It features granite countertops and a kitchen island, with gleaming sink and faucet, plus 21st-century cabinets and light fixtures. Venture upstairs, and you’ll find the two guest bedrooms with spacious, modern wooden furniture and plush beds, plus sunny window views and walk-out balconies. The entire house sleeps seven. Surfside is a charming community on Playa Potrero where many expats live permanently (in particular Canadians), and where visitors can choose from a wide range of elegant vacation rentals, appetizing restaurants and lively bars. Located between the towns of Potrero and Flamingo, Surfside is an eminently walkable village where the beach is never more than a few blocks away. Several tour offices offer a variety of adventure tours by land and sea, and real estate offices will be happy to show you your next home in paradise. Attractions you won’t want to miss include the beachfront Sailing Center (restaurant, bar, pool, sailing packages and scuba lessons); the popular Perlas restaurant (a high-end roadhouse/sports bar with big-screen TVs, live music, and great wings, burgers and pizzas); the Cervecería Independiente craft brewery between the two; and other local eateries including El Castillo, Fat Daddys, the Shack and the Beach House. The lines are somewhat blurred between Potrero and Surfside — Potrero (“pasture”) was the original Costa Rican name of both, but Surfside became the popular name when a lot of foreigners began developing its southern outskirts. Most people would probably say that Potrero starts somewhere north of Perlas, and it’s Surfside to the south. In either place, you can’t go wrong.

Refunds are determined by cancellation policies, and in addition, SPCR charges a 5% cancellation fee over the total booking amount or a minimum of USD 75 and added 13%, plus any applicable merchant fees. This will be withheld from any refund on a deposit. Refunds will be processed to the credit card on file, or via wire transfer if deposit was made by wire transfer. SPCR recommends travel insurance to cover any unforeseeable contingencies.
