Welcome to the Residence of Artists and Friends of Art, a 19th century mansion with exhibition hall and work studio. With only 50 inhabitants, our village offers a quiet landscape next to the Dyji river. Located 40 minutes from ZNOJMO, 1h30min from VIENNA, 2h from PRAGUE and 1h from BRNO, by car. Experience creativity in this unique inspiring environment.
The mission of the Foundation "Marie des Arts" is to disseminate art and encourage communication between artists. We finance their projects with the funds collected, demonstrating a strong commitment to the promotion of creativity. We seek to create an artistic community where artists can thrive and connect with other creative minds.
Podhradi nad Dyji (Frejstejn), next to the Dyji River, has historically been a border between the Czech Republic and Austria. Its name comes from the castle of Frejstejn, now in rubble at the top of the village. The ancient fortress was a hideout of bandits, highlighting the legend of the noble bandit of the thirteenth century, who was discovered and burned the castle for the first time.
