In the Nasrid era there was a palace in this street where the valiant soldier Salam Almansur lived, belonging to the troops of Muley-Hacen. During the raids against the village of Zahara, the leader kidnapped a beautiful maiden named Maria de Inestrosa, a Christian who aroused the passion of the Arab. María was locked in a palace in the vicinity of the Aljibe del Gato. Maria de Inestrosa, was engaged to Ensign Enrique de Saavedra, and always was elusive to the wishes of Salam Almansur. Knowing that Maria was walking through the garden during the night, she threw a note tied to a bouquet of jasmine as it passed. The next day Maria picked up a new bouquet, and she found Salam who tried to get her favors by force. The Christian escaped and reached the cistern where she tried to throw herself, but her jailer stopped her by dropping flowers into the waters. Enrique de Saavedra appeared opportunely and managed to pluck from the arms of the Saracen the graceful body of Maria fleeing together, it is said that the jasmines left their sweetness in the waters of the cistern forever.
