What if you preferred the charm of a barge for your stay in Metz? I propose this totally independent, comfortable accommodation surrounded by nature and water, a 15-minute walk from the city center along the canal. Longer stays are possible, as all amenities are present. NOTE: In places, the ceilings are low and may be uncomfortable for taller people (+1.85m). The stairs are steep as you can see in the photos and are not suitable for the elderly or people with reduced mobility. The double bed measures 140 X 190 CM. The unfolded armchair measures 100 X 190 CM. Please take this information into account before booking, and perhaps prefer a classic apartment in the city center if these aspects do not suit you. A barge is an adventure! Please ask for the extra bed to be installed when the booking is for 2 people and you are not sleeping together. It is installed when the reservation is for 3 people. I am your host, Gilles. I live on this barge since the end of 2021. A brand new adventure that I now share with travelers who wish to live their stay in Metz in a different way. I also host my web development company in the middle of the boat. But what is he going to do on this boat? Live the beautiful and share it!
The barge is located 10 minutes walk from the marina and the waterfront. Go up a few steps and you will be in the city center. The cathedrals, restaurants and shops are waiting for you. On the other side, you are 15 minutes walk from the train station (elected the most beautiful in France several times) and the famous Pompidou museum of contemporary art with its very original architecture. The district on the other side of the canal is the middle-class district of the city. One can see there very beautiful residences with an architecture full of history. On the other side of the canal, there is a mini-market, a bakery, a pharmacy, a tobacconist, a florist, a beer bar and a wine bar with tastings of local cheeses and charcuterie. The best way to get around is to use your feet. You are close to the most beautiful parts of the city, so you might as well take advantage of it and make it a nice relaxing moment.
