The Lion D’Or is an absolutely charming chambre ‘d’hote set in the centre of beautiful Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val. Paul and Renee were welcoming and so helpful in catering for one of our party’s gluten intolerance to bike storage for 3 bikes.

Property information

Set in the historic heart of Saint Antonin Noble Val, L'Auberge Lion D'Or is a beautifully restored 17th-century inn offering deluxe B&B accommodation. Guests are welcome to enjoy our sun terrace, mature south-facing garden and the view over local beauty spot, le Roc D'Anglar. Free Wi-Fi is provided and free public parking is available close by. This historic inn offers you a stay in one of five authentic and luxurious bedrooms all year round. All rooms are spacious and have a modern, private en-suite shower room, one of which is fully wheelchair accessible. Guests staying with us will enjoy a generous continental breakfast of freshly ground coffee, tea or hot chocolate, fresh bread, cereals, croissants, jams, cheeses, ham, fruit juices and yogurt. Within a short walking distance from L'Auberge Lion D'Or, guests will find bars and restaurants serving both regional and international cuisine. Likewise, the famous Sunday market is on our doorstep. The town has been featured in the film Charlotte Gray and more recently, 'The Hundred Foot Journey' starring Helen Mirren of which some scenes were filmed in the room where breakfast is served.

Neighbourhood information

Situated by the Gorges de l'Aveyron river, Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val is one of France's gems. Visitors love to come here to hike, cycle, canoe, rock-climb, go horseriding, take a relaxed stroll around the surrounding countryside or admire the limestone cliffs of the Roc D'Anglar. There is also wild-swimming in the river Aveyron for enthusiasts. Equally, Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val is a centre of historic interest. It has an authentically medieval layout with many streets and facades having hardly changed over 800 years. It features a range of stone arched and half-timbered houses listed in the French national heritage records. The town was used as a location for the 2001 film Charlotte Gray, starring Cate Blanchett. It was also more recently used as a location in the 2014 film The Hundred-Foot Journey starring Helen Mirren. Guests love to visit the bustling Sunday market which starts right on our doorstep and extends down to the Place des Tilleuls and past La Mairie. Popular daytrips from the village include the Episcopal city of Albi, a UNESCO World Heritage site and Cordes Sur Ciel which recently won France's 'plus beaux village'.
