The hosts, Martine and Julian, were so welcoming and helpful. Their facilities were excellent! Was such a lovely stay. Their home is in the quaint medieval town (made for pedestrians and donkeys- the roads are very narrow!). Highly recommend...

Host review score
The sixteenth century stone house in the medieval village of Vaison is a step back into history. Cool in the heat of summer, quiet at night, guests enjoy a spacious bedroom with ensuite bathroom, share a vaulted living room, and walled Mediterranean garden to sit and enjoy traditional Provencal or English breakfasts, and pluck apricots, cherries, figs and plums. There are stunning views over the valley of the Ouveze and of Mont Ventoux – the giant of Provence and graveyard of the ambitions of many cyclists. Vaison is a magic place – Paradise in Provence.
Julian and Martine's home reflects their lives and travels. They produced many radio documentaries for National Public Radio and for BBC Radio 4 for over 30 years, spending many months each year in India, South Asia and the Middle East. Martine edited a monthly social science magazine for secondary school teachers and is an award-winning photographer. Julian has also written two books based on his radio work - Ganga- and "Apna Street"- about a community of pavement dwellers in Mumbai (Bombay). He also presented a classical music program in Boston. He teaches Journalism in Mumbai every winter. Martine has been President of the Association for the Protection of the Haute Ville in Vaison la Romaine since 2009.
