About the Property–Château de L’Encastre
Perched high above the shimmering waters of Lac de Saint-Ferréol, Château de L’Encastre — also known as "Maison Get" offers guests a rare opportunity to stay in a place steeped in history, elegance, and southern French charm.
Originally built in 1902 for Gaston Astre and his wife Marie Get, the estate was designed as a summer residence for the renowned Get family, famous for their internationally known liqueur, Pippermint Get. The château was constructed on land purchased in 1898 from the "Compagnie des chemins de fer du canal du Midi et du canal latéral à la Garonne", encompassing nearly 180 hectares of tranquil countryside. Today, this historic home is lovingly maintained and opened to guests looking for a unique and inspiring retreat.
The interiors of Château de L’Encastre reflect a timeless elegance, designed by Auguste Metgé de Sorèze, a student of the Beaux-Arts in Toulouse and member of the School of Rome. Guests will notice subtle touches of Art Nouveau—from intricate woodwork and decorative fireplaces to hand-crafted iron details—creating a warm, historic, and artistic ambiance throughout the house.
With spacious salons, high ceilings, and panoramic views over the lake and surrounding forest, the château offers both grandeur and comfort. Modern amenities blend effortlessly with original features, ensuring guests enjoy the best of both worlds. Whether sipping wine in the drawing room, dining under chandeliers, or relaxing in the garden, visitors feel like they’ve stepped into a refined yet welcoming world.
The estate’s elevated position provides both privacy and incredible light, especially at sunrise and sunset. It’s a favorite spot for artists, writers, families, and anyone seeking a quiet escape surrounded by natural beauty, heritage, and French elegance.
At our Château, every stay is more than a visit it’s an experience of history, comfort, and hospitality in one of southern France’s most cherished settings.

This peaceful and scenic area lies in the Occitanie region of southern France, at the crossroads of history, nature, and culture. It’s the perfect escape from city life—yet still remarkably accessible.
Located just 1 hour from Toulouse, the dynamic capital of Occitanie and a hub for aerospace, culture, and gastronomy, the château is also close to Carcassonne, one of France’s most iconic medieval cities with its fairytale fortress and cobblestone streets.
