The house, built between 1850 and 1890, is located in a charming village between the Collégiale St Etienne and the Canal du Midi. it has been renovated into one bedroom apartments on the first and second floors with a washer and dryer exclusively for guests on the ground floor. The apartments are fully furnished with air conditioning, have full kitchens, dishwashers, en suite showers and lots of light. There is ample free parking in the street.
My husband and I moved to France in 2008 after living in Cape Town, South Africa for 4 years and in San Francisco for 25 years before that. We bought this house in 2009 and spent several years renovating it as well as creating a home for ourselves in the attached barn.
Capestang is well known for its location on the Canal du Midi and the Collégiale of St Etienne., built in the 13 century. The towns of Beziers and Narbonne are about 25 minutes by car. The TGV high speed train runs regularly from Paris and Barcelona to these stations. There is a bus that runs seven days a week From Capestang to Beziers;. Other points of interest are Minerve, (about 30 minutes) and Montpellier, Carcassonne and Perpignan all about an hour away. This area has a rich history as well as offering many outdoor activities.
