Set in the rolling hills of the Haute Vienne, L'Hirondelle offers comfortable guest accommodation in a peaceful, rural location. All rooms have en-suite facilities and complimentary tea/coffee making facilities. There is free WiFi throughout the property and ample onsite parking. We offer 4 course evening meals, including wine, by prior booking at 25 euros per person. We can cater for special diets by request. Breakfast and dinner are served in the dining room or on the terrace when weather permits. We are 3kms from the centre of St Mathieu where there is a super market with fuel station, baker, cafe, pizzeria, newsagent, post office, bank, gift shop, dress agency and hairdressers.

We moved to this lovely, peaceful area of France in January 2009 in search of a different way of life. We swapped stressful jobs in the public and private sectors, for running a small guest house. We love the simplicity of life here; the time to watch the seasons change. Most importantly, we enjoy welcoming guests to our home.

We're in a tiny hamlet, surrounded by fields and just 2 kms from the village of St Mathieu. The village has all day to day necessities - supermarket, fuel station, post office, bank, newsagent and baker. There is also a cafe and a pizzeria. Our local lake is within a 5 minute drive, great for walks, picnics and summer swimming plus crazy golf, pedalo hire and a beach side snack bar. The Grange du Lac bar/restaurant is situated next to the carpark. Rochechouart is our nearest town (20 minutes by car) where a good selection of restaurants can be enjoyed along with a visit to the Chateau. We are an hour by car from 3 different and interesting cities - Limoges, Angouleme and Perigueux. Cognac is about an hour & a half drive so makes an excellent day trip.
