As artists and very experienced renovators, we have given our Provencal 'mas" a new lease of life. Much of the history of this old magnanerie (silkworm breeding farm) was preserved and it is now oozing with charm and modern comfort albeit with a very contemporary feel, reflected in the choice of materials and plethora of artworks
We are Kristine and Geoff, a couple of French and Australian artists based half of the year in Provence and travelling the world the rest of the time. Over the last 15 years, we've split our life between Australia, France and Asia, where we've derived a lot of our art inspiration displayed in our property. In 2016, we acquired an old magnanerie in the South of France that needed a lot of TLC. After three years of intensive work, it is now fully renovated inside and I am working on the landscaping this year. Whilst we spend the European summer in our French home, we have a guest's bedroom to welcome guests who want to experience sharing an artist home, French/Australian hospitality and the charm of this region.
Kristine’s place is located in Navacelles, Gard in the Occitanie, region of France. The village of Navacelles lies in the Gard region, 1-hour drive from the world-renown cities of Avignon and Nimes and only 1/2 hour from the marvellous medieval town of Uzes. Beware that our village of Navacelles is not St Maurice de Navacelles, another village located in the Cirque de Navacelles in the department of Herault, 1h and 40 minutes drive from La Magnanerie de Seraphin! Getting around The nearest train station is Ales ( 30 minutes drive). from there you can rent a car if you do not have one already as to really truly enjoy all that the area has to offer, you will need a car. However, there are also many walking tracks to explore the "garrigue" around the village at a slower pace.
