This is one of the most beautiful villages in France, with its amazing troglodyte Church of St Jean, the Romanesque Church of St Jacques with its stunning facade, and the panoramic vistas of the Dordogne countryside spreading out to the south. The property is called La Maison du Tourniquet, meaning 'The Turnstile House', because it used to be the toll house controlling entry to Aubeterre-sur-Dronne from the north. People would enter one door, pay their toll and exit through another to continue down the hill to the market place.
