Located in Perigord Vert within the Nouvelle Aquitaine area of the Dordogne, La Roderie is ideal for those seeking a relaxed localised French experience close to the many attractions on offer. My house is half of a converted barn originally built (I believe) in the 1800s but renovated to be a house in the 1980s. Chateaux, wineries, caves, golf, forest walks, adventure parks and both fishing and swimming lakes could fill your days. Or you could just while away the time shopping at local farmers' markets and enjoying the fruits of your labors in various locations in the house, courtyard or garden, as you relax and soak up the famed French sunshine. The house has a large garden, private courtyard with jacuzzi, sauna, light weights gym, indoor and outdoor games for children or those that are young at heart, a small library and bikes available for guest use. On-site parking is available.
Hi, my name is Robyn. Welcome to La Roderie, where I know you will enjoy your stay. I live in Australia with my family but adore France and the relaxed lifestyle of the French countryside and, of course, the food. I speak English, a bit of German and very bad French, although I am trying to improve that! I have owned the house since 2011 and love reading all the stories of happy stays by guests at La Roderie. Pascal and Agata are the team who will welcome you and be available on call during your stay. They have a wealth of knowledge about the local area and the workings of things in the house so please feel free to call them with any questions you have during your stay. The many attractions of the area are explained in a "tourist centre" folder within the study to help you plan your stay: * There is a large swimming lake with life savers within 10 minutes' drive and beaches are about 3 hours' drive away. * Historic towns and chateaux dot the landscape * Fascinating pre-historic sites are within an easy drive. * Towns within 10 minutes' drive have farmers' markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays * The nearest village has a bar, boulangerie and creperie * There are some very good restaurants in towns within 10 minutes' drive * Larger supermarkets are also about 10 minutes' drive away.
