We took over La Saucisserie in October 2024. After 35 years quantity surveying (James), 35 years barrister's clerking and bringing up our children, Tom and Emily (Kate) and most surprisingly 35 years together (!), we decided to make things difficult! Of the 46 properties shortlisted and the 30 viewed, La Saucisserie in the (very) green and stunning north Dordogne was perfection. The extensive grounds provide space for our newly planted orchard(s) and (growing) potager, and coming in 2025 new vineyard, and (subject to unanimous agreement) chickens and bees! There’s also a longer and ongoing plan to plant and create a ‘hidden valley’ for quiet solitude and wellness inspired by the Lost Gardens of Heligan. But we have the immediacy of a superb swimming pool, outdoor games, Le Petit Cochon bar, and newly refurbished gites ready now for our guests. Over the next few years growing our own food, using the sun to power us, planting more trees, and shopping locally at the wonderful local markets will allow us to live that little bit more sustainably. And hopefully inspire guests to do likewise. If you want. Welcome to La Saucisserie Gites which offers a choice of the Masters House, a beautiful historic holiday home and 3 lovely gites, located in the Perigord Vert, the green heart of the Dordogne. Close to La Coquille and Thiviers and less than an hour from Brantome and Perigueux , we are ideally placed for exploring all the Dordogne has to offer. Limoges airport is just 40 minutes to the north on the trail of Richard the Lion Heart. Here you can enjoy a wonderful holiday as a couple or with the whole family. In a beautiful rural setting you will find your holiday home with its own enclosed garden for privacy or you can play or rest in our extensive garden area. All our holiday homes are equipped with everything you need and have recently been renovated and decorated. The large 5 acre site (26,000m2) is a paradise for children. A large lawn, playground equipment, trampoline, secured swimming pool, giant chess and much more. There are always plenty of playmates. Because of the various holiday homes on the site, you have the opportunity to 'socialise' but you can also retire to your own place for some peace and quiet.

Nearby in St Pierre De Frugie is a Bio shop for groceries and a great little restaurant & bar. There is even a free village garden where you can pick fresh herbs, vegetables and fruit. La Coquille is a larger town 6km away with banks, electric car charge points, supermarkets, garage, bakery and butchers.
