Dit is wat men bedoelt met een 'hidden gem'. Echt geweldig! Het uitzicht is fenomenaal, de kamer sfeervol, het diner heel goed en het ontbijt in de zon maakt alles af.

Le Manivert, a former hunting lodge built in 1795, is located on a cul-de-sac and completely surrounded by meadows. Our estate, which is truly an oasis of calm, extends over 1.2 hectares and includes meadows, woods, an orchard and a vegetable garden. Stately old trees provide shade and coolness in summer. The house has 3 comfortable bedrooms for our guests, 2 of which are upstairs. They all have unobstructed views over the beautiful garden and surrounding countryside. A full breakfast is served in the garden in fine weather and consists of local, organic and homemade products. In the evening, a three-course menu is available, also with local, seasonal products or produce from our own vegetable garden. This can be accompanied by carefully selected fine wines from the region.
We have been together for more than 30 years and besides love, grief and two fantastic daughters, we also share a passion for life and other arts, including good food and drink. Our search for beauty is reflected in our interiors and the dishes we prepare for our guests. While she inherited her love of cooking by tasting her father's pots and pans, he learned about wine and qualified as a sommelier.
The region is ideal for nature breaks. The magnificent Morvan nature park is just a stone's throw away. You can cycle along the Canal du Nivernais or swim in the many lakes nearby. Or simply lie on the grass or under the trees and enjoy what's going on overhead. You may even see a shooting star in the clear pure night sky. You can take a walk in the woods between the remains of a Roman settlement. The whole region is also steeped in the Middle Ages. A crusade once set out from Vézelay and the beautiful basilica contains the relics of Saint Madeleine. The Second World War is not far away, with memorial sites for the dead of the maquis, where groups of resistance fighters hid. Stroll around a flea market in the glorious sunshine and find a few trinkets for next to nothing. And then in the evening enjoy a concert under an apple tree or in the Basilica of Sainte-Madeleine in Vézelay. There's plenty of information on excursions in the chambres d'hôtes.
