Le Pigeonnier at Chariaud is right beside the Maison de Maitre where Alex and his wife live and it is situated in peaceful countryside, yet just five kms from Aubeterre sur Dronne. Le Pigeonnier is a restored old building on two floor and self contained with washing facilities downstairs and the bedroom above which shows the beams and original features. Aubeterre sur Dronne is a "Beau Village" with a subterranean church, mediaeval buildings and winding lanes to explore the village and where there are restaurants and bars in a lively square. The markets nearby are at Chalais and at Riberac. There is golf at Longveveau, just outside Aubeterre, and a 18 hole golf course at Perigueux Day trips could include St. Emilion, Brantome, Angouleme; all within an hour's drive.
Having retired to France some eighteen years ago and restored both the house and Le Pigeonnier we are now very happy to share our beautiful home with visitors which we have been doing for some years now. My wife is a keen gardener and we have created a lovely and colourful garden. Both of us enjoy meeting people and we have had the pleasure of many interesting conversations with our guests. Aubeterre sur Dronne , a mediaeval village with a subterranean church below the chateau, has plenty of archetectural interest as well as restaurants and bars in a livey square. There is a river beach at Aubeterre which offers good swimming and snack bar and restaurant. Day trips could include Brantome, St. Emilion and Angouleme where there is plenty of interest from wine trails to museums and castles.
