Company information

We are delighted to welcome you to the Pharmacie de Magalas - Maison (the old pharmacy of Magalas). We love this region and its wonderful people, and hope you enjoy the wine, the food and the historic beauty of this town and its surrounds as much as we do. Relax, enjoy yourselves and prepare to come back again and again just like we have!

Property information

From a recent guest: 'Chateau Serjac every Friday night for July and August was truly stunning and so close. The bars and village restaurants in Puimisson, Puissalicon, Autignac and the smarter restaurant Silva Plana in Laurens are all top of our list. Saturdays at the Pezenas market and then lunch at Chez Paul is a fabulous combination.' Magalas is a lively mediterranean village in the heart of the South of France's wine region, with shops, bars, restaurants, train station, 15 minutes from Béziers, 15 minutes from the A9 and A 75 motorways and 25 minutes from the coast. The residence is a large character village house with a terrace (the old pharmacy of the village), with additional apartments and studios to rent on request. It is well located right in the centre of the village, close to all shops and public transport. Activities in the region include wine tasting , with literally hundreds of domains keen for you to try their wines. You can sail on the coast or on Lake Salagou or canoe down one of the region’s many rivers. The area is also great for fishing, bird watching, mountain cycling, rambling, golf and skiing in the Pyrénées in winter.

Neighbourhood information

As an old medieval village in Languedoc, visitors to Magalas often just stroll through the old streets, discovering the remains of the ramparts, its porches and its 11th century church. Its' prime industry is wine. Languedoc itself has history far richer than that of neighbouring Provence. There are so many things to do and see in Languedoc, that it’s hard to know where to start. Some highlights are: 1. The Roman ruins of La Maison Carrée and Les Arènes in Nîmes, and the Pont du Gard aqueduct 2. Cathar castles in the Aude department - such as Queribus and Peyrepeteuse. 3. La Cité castle in Carcassonne - the world’s largest example of a medieval castle 4. The Canal du Midi - walk, boat or cycle down it under a canopy of plane trees. 5. Historic villages and towns- Minèrve, Lagrasse, Roquebrun, Olargues, Collioure, St Guilhem le Désert Pézenas, Uzès, Sommières and Limoux 6. Churches and abbeys - The cathedrals at Narbonne and Mende and the Abbeye de Frontfroide, the Abbeye of St Martin de Canigou and the Priory of Serrabone. 7. Natural wonders - Such as the Cirque de Navacelles, the Cirque de Mourèze, Lake Salagou
