Of the Saint-François district bombed in 1944, only the Saint-François church, a few private mansions and houses on rue Dauphine and the Quai de l'Ile remained after the war. During the reconstruction from 1950 to 1958, the original plan was adopted in a more airy manner. Given the large number of buildings protected as historic monuments, it was decided to exclude this district from Auguste Perret's overall project.
