At the gates of the Écrins National Park, and surrounded by high peaks (Le Morgon, the Aiguilles de Chabrières or Mont Guillaume), Savines le Lac well deserves its title of “green holiday resort”. Rebuilt in the 1960s, the old village of Savines having been drowned during the flooding of Lake Serre-Ponçon, Savines le Lac is a small, clean and pleasant town, on the banks of the lake, well exposed due south (300 days of sunshine per year!) There you will find several piers to enjoy the many water sports offered by Lake Serre-Ponçon, all the useful shops and numerous café terraces with a view of the lake, well-kept lawns, a pretty square around a jet water from where you will have a breathtaking view of a beautiful white church with a very “60s” modernism!
