I live here with my two daughters and Teddy (an amalgam of Labrador and Whippet we think) who is extremely friendly. I am semi-retired and work from home so will be on call to prepare the apartments for you and provide any assistance during your stay. As a permanent driver for 'Dad's Taxis' I am not averse to driving you to and from Hillsborough if you want a night out in some of the outstanding pubs in the village. We chose to build our house in this area because of the quiet, rural location and yet it is just 5 minutes from Sprucefield, 10 minutes from Lisburn and close to Down Racecourse, the Eikon Conference Centre, the Balmoral Showgrounds and Belfast. We love it here and are sure that you will too! We have just created an outdoor area where you can host friends with covered seating and a fire pit; families can bring a tent if you have children who enjoy adventure! I spend quite a bit of my time away skiing and sailing and have a great house in Austria which we also let out through Booking com for skiers and holidaymakers in the Summer.

We now have 2 warm, clean, no smoking apartments for 2/3 people at our home location amongst the rolling hills of County Down. We are in the middle of nowhere but just 5 minutes from M&S! We have 12 kW solar PV and batteries to reduce our environmental impact and an EV charger. Our site is very easy to get to from Dublin, Belfast International and Belfast City airports as it is only a couple of miles from the A1 and M1. Convenient for Belfast and only a short drive to the scenic village of Royal Hillsborough with the attractions of Hillsborough Castle, the Fort, the Lake and great pubs and restaurants. We offer 2 well equipped apartments both with free parking on site, an outdoor area to sit and BBQ with fire pit, free WiFi, 2 acres of gardens and a paddock if you have a horse. They are designed for the independent traveller who likes to come and go on their own schedule. Families are welcome to bring a tent. There is a lockbox with the key to each apartment and I provide the code prior to arrival. The apartments are well furnished and equipped to ensure that you have a comfortable stay in a great location. We supply cereals, milk, bread, butter, spreads, a variety of teas, coffee and fruit juice so you don’t have to worry about breakfast or refreshments. In each there is a kettle, toaster, combioven with microwave and fridge. The one bedroom apartment is above the garage and has a large room with a double bed and sofa bed. There is a separate bathroom with bath and shower. Unfortunately this apartment does not have use of the hot tub. The Hot Tub Apartment is designed for wheelchair access so is located on the ground floor and has an outdoor sitting area with gas BBQ and a 6 person hot tub. It has a full kitchen with washer/drier, 58" smart TV and a double bed and sofa bed. Parking is available immediately next to the apartment. Neighbourhood information

Northern Ireland is a small place and it can be crossed in 90 minutes so everywhere is accessible. We are in the country but less than 2 miles from Sprucefield with all its shops and food outlets and only 10 miles from Belfast - the cultural hub of the country. We are well located for visits to Titanic Belfast, the Ulster Museum and Belfast City Hall as well as the concert venues in Belfast. Game of Thrones locations are dotted around the country near us and National Trust sites abound in County Down. If you like sailing, golf, riding or cycling this place is full of opportunities and everything tends to be no more than an hour's drive - the prehistoric masterpiece of Newgrange, the majestic Mourne Mountains and the stunning beauty of Strangford Lough. The Keeper of History at The Ulster Museum once told me "Northern Ireland is known for two things - the Titanic and the Troubles. Neither of which was a success story!" Fortunately, we have moved on and we are now known for great food, hospitality, music, scenery and historic sites. In Royal Portrush and Royal County Down you have 2 of the finest golf courses in the world and the opportunities for outdoor activities are huge.
