138a Old Star and Garter (The Town Flat) is a ground-floor flat in the heart of the beautiful country town of Ludlow, with off-road parking available for visitors (unusual, and rather like gold dust, in the centre of Ludlow). The newly-refurbished property has a large and very comfortable living room, complete with a Clearview Stove log burner, to add to the relaxing atmosphere on those evenings when you don't want to venture out. The room also contains a solid wooden table where you can sit to enjoy meals you've prepared in the well-appointed kitchen. The very spacious bathroom contains a large, efficient shower as well as a heated towel rail to ensure the room and your towels are toasty warm. There are two bedrooms with very comfortable beds - one double and one single.
Ludlow is a very picturesque rural market town in the heart of the Welsh Marches. Five hundred years ago Wales was run from Ludlow and there are still signs of the age and history of the town in over 500 listed buildings and the Norman, stone castle which is open all year round to the public and is used to host Ludlow's various festivals as well as other events. The square in front of the castle is used as a traditional open-air market on most days of the week with different stalls on offer on different days which, in addition to local food, can include antiques, books and local crafts. Ludlow is bordered on one side by the River Teme, on the banks of which is the Millenium Green - a large public area with a green, a weir and an excellent cafe and dining area - CSONS at The Green Cafe. There are many other good restaurants and pubs around the town, as well as a number of gift shops and boutique-style clothes shops. On the A49 between Shrewsbury and Hereford, Ludlow is within easy access of the beautiful Cardingmill Valley, the Stretton Hills and Church Stretton, Berrington Hall, Croft Castle, the Severn Valley Railway and Ironbridge Gorge.
