In our family house, you will be occupying a large, well-equipped room with an en-suite bathroom. We live in an old stone chapel house built in 1867, standing slightly raised up and looking out over the village and the valley. Miles of beautiful forest and river trails await you on the doorstep: this is said to be one of the ten most desirable mountain bike destinations in Europe. At night, hear the sound of the river and the owls calling across the valley before falling asleep in comfort. In the morning, enjoy the beautiful view as you sip your tea at the table by the window. You will have a large room with a King-size bed and full-size single day-bed. There is a table with chairs in front of the window, which looks out over the valley, and a big comfy armchair. The room is large with room to relax and unwind. The views are beautiful. The bathroom is large and well-equipped with bath and shower. Breakfast and other meals are not provided but the room is equipped with kettle, toaster and mini fridge, plus crockery and cutlery, tea and coffee, etc.
Dave and Sarah have lived here for five years. Sarah is Welsh and Welsh-speaking. Dave is from the other side of the bridge... they met and married in Penarth many moons ago. Sarah is a Pedicurist and Manicurist, you may be able to book an appointment if you wish, if she's not already booked up. It's worth asking, or maybe book in advance. Dave is just completing his training as a Copywriter and Content Creator to add to his skills as a Copy Editor and Proofreader. he has been a Church Minister and has worked in the family Carpet Business We're friendly and happy to help you with anything that may arise, whether to do with your accommodation or finding out about the area. Most of the time there should be someone around. If not and the need is urgent do feel free to phone. Do bear in mind this is a family home. We assume that guests will respect that and treat the accommodation well, including noise and behaviour: please be quiet after 11pm. Our house is no-smoking.
Just two minutes walk from the house is a shop that sells all the basics, and next door to that is a takeaway that does pizza, kebabs, burgers etc. There is a Pub Restaurant 10 minutes walk away. There are other local details in the room.Port talbot and Neath are each only 10 minutes away. This is the birthplace of the famous actor Richard Burton, who along with partner Elizabeth Taylor was a regular visitor back to his favourite place. A huge mural that seems to look at you, created by artist Dave ‘Gnasher’ Nash, is on the side of the Miners Arms pub where his father used to drink – and his parents met and married. It's just 50 yards from our house. It's a GREAT photo opportunity. Come and have a picture with the mural of the man himself! Burton Bont Festival Group have planned a number of exciting events and activities in 2025 leading up to and commemorating the centenary of Richard Burton's birth and the bicentenary of the building of the iconic aqueduct, itself a five-minute walk from here. We'll add info when released.
