Annfield House is a beautiful, peaceful house set in a quiet street in the heart of Callander. The location makes the house perfect for walks to the town centre or for a longer trek into the spectacular countryside of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. There are lochs, rivers and forests all within walking distance of the house and there are many opportunities for fantastic hillwalks in the area. Cyclists will really enjoy the National Park as there are lots of road cycling opportunitis as well as many mountain bike and gravel bike trails. There are bike hire shops in Callander that offer e-bikes as well as traditionally powered cycles. The house has been recently refurbishes to a high standard and offers modern comforts in a traditional setting. The beds are all top quality as is the bed-linen - perfect for a good night's sleep. Golfers, fishermen , runners, birdwatcher and history fans will find plenty to do in this beautiful part of Scotland. There are many castles that can be visited within a comfortable travellling distance by car. Within a short walk of the house there is a selection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops to enjoy and of course, Glasgow and Edinburgh are both only about one hour away by car. Annfield House itself has a lovely modern kitchen with ample cooking facilities to keep you happy during your stay. There is a dining room next to the kitchen and a further 2 living rooms in which to relax or enjoy a good book. There is a selection of board games to help keep the family amused and all the bedrooms and the 2 living rooms have smart tvs. Annfield is the ideal home from home and perfect for family gatherings or for breaks with groups of friends. There is ample off street parking for up to 6 cars and a garden to enjoy, complete with seating and barbecues.
We moved to Callander 8 years ago and absolutely love the town and the area. There are so many walks to enjoy and so much nature to observe. We really want others to enjoy this spectacular part of Scotland and have tried hard to create a comfortable, relaxing house for people to enjoy. We love cycling, running and swimming in the nearby lochs - particularly Loch Venachar. One of us always meets the guests to show them around the house and hand over the keys. We will always be delighted to offer any advice or answer any questions that guests may have about the area.
If you enjoy hillwalking then the hill that overlooks the town is one you will love tackling. It is called Ben Ledi and the views from the top are spectacular and take in a selection of lochs including Loch Katrine and Loch Lomond. There are many other hills of varying degrees of climbing difficulty in the area and of course, there are quite a few Monroes ( mountains over 3000 feet high) to explore in the National Park. The town of Callander is known as the gateway to The Trossachs and is a very pretty little town with a great community feel. It is situated on the fault-line where the lowlands and highlands meet and offers a real taste of Scotland. A boat trip on nearby Loch Katrine is highly recommended, where you will see spectacular scenery and maybe even spot an osprey during certain times of the year. Nearby Doune Castle is another great place to visit and fans of the popular tv series 'Outlander' will no doubt recognise it as one of the settings. There are quite a few whisky distilleries in the area that all offer tours to whisky fans. The closest distillery to Annfield House is Deanston distillery in Doune which is about 8 mile away. Many visiters to Callander enjoy the quietness of the town and comment in particular on how lovely and peaceful it is in Annfield House.
