Ardmore House is a beautiful old Victorian villa, believed to have been built for a sea captain. We have just two spacious guest bedrooms - Room 1 has a superking-sized bed in it, with its own separate private bathroom (bath, overbath shower, WC and handbasin) adjacent to the room, whilst Room 2 has both a double and a single bed in it, making it a double or twin room, with its own en-suite shower room with walk-in rainfall shower, WC and handbasin. Both rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, flat-screen TVs and comfortable sitting areas. There is also a very cosy guest lounge/dining room with a wood-burning stove for the colder months. In the morning we provide a simple breakfast which you help yourself to at whatever time you wish - we provide lots of home-made treats, such as home-made granola infused with whisky and honey, home-made fruit compote, yoghurt, home-made organic bread for toasting, fresh fruits, etc, plus lots of tea, coffee, herbal teas, fruit juices, etc. We can cater for special diets - vegetarian, vegan, allergies etc, if you let us know in advance of your stay. There is an abundance of wildlife in and around the gardens of Ardmore House, including many resident and visiting birds and the likelihood of red deer peeping over the fence on an evening! We have no light pollution so the stars are amazing here on a night, and in the winter time, we often see the Northern Lights. Ardmore House is ideally situated for taking advantage of the many local outdoor activities, such as hill walking, bird watching, fishing, photography etc or just lazing on one of the many sandy beaches (we are only 1.5 miles from Achmelvich Beach, and from Lochinver).
Hi! I'm Jo Wright, and I own and run Ardmore House with my husband Trevor - we live here permanently, so we are usually around should you need anything. We relocated here to the Highlands of Scotland in 2018, and after renovations, opened our little B&B in the spring of 2019. Having spent many years running our own artisan bakeries in North Yorkshire, we can often be found in the kitchen devising new tasty treats or otherwise we will be outside tending the vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers in our croft kitchen garden. We love having guests to stay and really look forward to welcoming you here to our cosy Highland home.
Ardmore House is situated on the B869 North Coast 500 route, just 1.5 miles from Lochinver, with its restaurants, shops, fuel station, cafes and bars. Ardmore House is also just 1.5 miles from Achmelvich beach, with its white sandy beach and turquoise sea, ideal for swimming, sunbathing, snorkelling and other water sports....there is also a fantastic fish and chip takeaway at Achmelvich for an al fresco dinner! We are a short drive from Stoer lighthouse, Ardvreck Castle, the car park for walkers climbing Suilven, the Bone Caves at Inchnadamph, and lots of other scenic walks, beautiful beaches and adventurous hills!
