Room was functional, clean tidy, brew facilities, bedside lighting, and the hot water works. I arrived very late at night and Tyson the son in law of Liz very kindly directed me as I was fumbling around the premises in the dark. Excellent customer...

Company information

I love meeting people and before opening Ballas Farm Country Guest House I was hairdressing in the family busines for many years. People have always been an important part of my life. I love to cook and feed people. I love garden and the gardens and woods here are very pretty. The beaches locally are amazing at all times of the year. Walking on an almost deserted beach on a dry crisp day in Winter is very therapic. The Sand dunes and village at Merthyr Mawr are beautiful. If you enjoy walking you can walk from Mertyr Mawr to Newton Dunes along the sea shore.Kenfig Nature reserve is very close to us and has the largest lake in Glamorgan. The sand dunes here are much less steep than Merthyr Mawr. If you walk acroos the Dunes you arrive at Sker Beach near to the Greens at The Royal Porthcawl Golf Club. Ogmore Castle is a favourite of mine and if the tide is out you can cross the river via the stepping stones. Ogmore by Sea and Southerndown are beautiful unspoilt beaches popular with families

Property information

I fell in love with Ballas Farm the first time I saw it in 2000. We bought it in 2001 and started renovating the farmhouse. Ballas Farm was first built in 1210AD but you wouldn’t know it. It is approached via a Roman Road. The guest wing was built in 2011 and is built to a high standard, the beds are exceptionally comfortable. The location is ideally situated with Cardiff 20 miles approx. to the East and Swansea about 17 miles to the West. The beautiful Heritage coast is about 3 miles away and there are many excellent Golf Clubs, Nature Reserves and lovely countryside locally. Although we are just off the junction to the A48 and J37.M4 we still enjoy peace and quiet as the house is nestled in woodland and pasture. We have 4 bedrooms, 2 on the ground floor and a double room and a family room on the first floor. We can accommodate up to 10 people and welcome children. There is lots to do nearby, such as Mountain biking, walking, golfing, surfing, swimming and sightseeing. We have had people from all over the world staying at Ballas Farm and we get a lot of repeat business from visitors. We start off the day for you with a delicious breakfast and end it with a good nights sleep

Neighbourhood information

Nearby is the beautiful Margam Park. With hundreds of acres of Parkland, lakes, woodland and the Gothic Castle. There are beautiful walks, a small farm and a big herd of Roe deer.Go Ape is a big attraction in Margam Park. Porthcawl and its lovely beaches are about 3 miles away and is a pleasant seaside town with many beaches. Rest Bay is very popular with surfers and has a surf school operational. Within a few miles there is an array of good pubs serving excellent food. Within an hour you could find yourself in the Brecon Beacons or the Gower, the position of Ballas Farm makes it ideal for Business or for seeing South Wales
