Only an hour from Edinburgh airport, but feels like you've entered another world. Bump up the farm track past the old watermill and woodland, to find this little haven nestled at the edge of the Broughton Heights. No street lights, stars shining from every direction, complete silence apart from birds and sheep. Use as a base to explore the area, or just sit and enjoy the view. 12 miles from Glentress mountain bike centre. 24 miles from central Edinburgh.
I keep myself busy, but enjoy listening to (and telling) stories. You can have as much privacy as you like. I work from home, and am often around if you need any advice about the area or just want to chat.
West Linton village is 6 miles away. The village has a post office, a small supermarket, a pub/hotel, a restaurant and a newsagent. Peebles and Biggar are both 9 miles aways (in opposite directions) and have a variety of shops, pubs, and restaurants. The Scottish Borders is famous for walking and mountain biking, and we're well located for the John Buchan way and all the Seven Stane mountain biking sites, especially Glentress. The UNESCO World Heritage site at New Lanark is 20 miles (30 minutes) away by car. Edinburgh is only 24 miles away and can be easily reached by car or bus. Glasgow is 40 miles (70 minutes) drive. There is a Park & Ride at Straiton (which is 19 miles from our house) for easy access to Edinburgh. Parking is free and a variety of bus tickets are available from Lothian Regional Transport.
