This isn’t a house. It’s a time machine. But to where and when will you be transported? Possibly 19th-century Paris. Maybe Edwardian England. A time when beauty was a match for purpose and cutting-edge tech meant a high-cistern loo decorated in Toile de Jouy. I've tried to make everything, you know...nice. Velvet curtains, Italian marble floors, an oak fire surround and a leather wingback chair for reading that book you’ve been meaning to finish since your last holiday. Don’t worry, though... There’s a smart TV. And fibre web. A leafy garden, too. Everything you need to loaf around the house all weekend. Of course, that would be a shame because Margate has turned quite marvellous of late.
Hello! I'm a travel writer, so I'm not around very much. It's a fun job, but I get paid peanuts, so I need some help keeping Santander happy. Know what I mean? Also, though, the idea of folks gathering to have fun or catch up with loved ones at my place is a really pleasing one. Nancy, my co-host, lives locally and will look after you during your stay. We do try and keep contact through the website, but a number will be given to you for emergencies. Do ask if we can help with anything!
Art galleries galore, lots of little wine bars (go to Street) and a new Crab Museum. I love crabs. Also, “Kent’s best breakfast” is opposite my house. Dalby Caff. Something fancier? Try Mori Mori’s next-level ramen. Oh, and don’t miss Pan Asian: sounds bad; tastes divine. Speaking of cool… You have to go for a swim in the sea. Walpole Bay tidal pool is a few minutes walk and will make your head a happier place to be. I promise.
