I loved everything about Gallery Flat, Jeanette welcomed me and my dog Pedro. The setting is beautiful with lots of art and crafts, created not only by Jeanette but also by others too. If felt like I was living in a museum/art gallery, and it was...

The gallery flat is a rather unique property. Full of character and charm, with a beautiful and spacious bathroom. The main part of the old Chapel is the living room, and has a vast ceiling - very light and airy. The decor is beautiful, much of it...

The flat was beautiful...laid out just like an art gallery with wall hangings, costumes, beautiful light fittings and quirky pieces of art dotted around each room. As well as this it was spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the kitchen was well...

Burgher Chapel holiday apartments form part of a former Scottish church near the banks of the River Tay. The chapel, sitting on the side of a small square, was built in 1836. However, it served as a place of worship for only a short while. In 2011 it was converted into an international Textile school with students and tutors coming from allover the world. In 2020 it opened its doors as a short holiday let. The flat was named 'Gallery Flat', because it shows still many traces of textile and art work from previous students and Jeanette herself. Many artists choose the chapel as a place for creative time out or for a retreat. The adjacent studio and Hat Museum offers additional inspiration and can be visited by request.
Jeanette is a theatrical trained Costume Designer, Textile Artist and Milliner. She has worked in theatre and opera across the world and is the founder and curator of the Wee Hat Museum here in the chapel. Lately she has returned to university to study filmmaking. She looks forward to meeting you!
Newburgh is a traditional Scottish town offering historic and scenic walks. Lindores Distillery and the 12 century Abbey Ruins attract visitors from around the world. Why not book lunch or a whiskey tour at the distillery. Newburgh is in the heart of Scotland and a perfect place to stay before heading onto the Highland and islands, St’ Andrews. Edinburgh and many other destinations. Dundee is only a few miles away with the most beautiful drive along the river Tay. Dundee with its Discovery and the new Victoria & Albert Museum has build up an flair between sophisticated and shabby chick which is flavoured with local restaurant, cafe places and night life run by students and young artists. Newburgh itself has a historical weaving studio producing tweed and blankets on old Kennedy handlooms. Weaving master Jimmy will explain the process and let you have a shot on the loom. For more intense learning you might want to book a class with him. If you are lucky you can catch some life music on a Tuesday night at the Bear with local musicians. Lets not forget that Newburgh is the end (or beginning) of the Fife Coastal Walk. The arch is only a few steps away from the chapel. If you time it right, you can catch the Bear Burning, The Open Studio event, our scarecrow festival or the boat races. The locals love to meet you and share what Newburgh has to offer.
