Excellent location in a picturesque village, massive property with 7 rooms. We stayed upstairs, so did not hear any other rooms and had a great night sleep. The breakfast was excellent ( full English) , very friendly host. Would definitely come...

The décor of the property is lovely and in keeping with the country cottage feel. The fires in both the lounge and dining room were perfect for a very cold snowy day. The rooms are immaculate and very cosy, Ruth, the owner, has a fabulous eye...

Property information

This Grade II listed property has been recently upgraded however still keeping some of its spectacular features such as the large inglenook fireplace in the breakfast room, stone flooring through the hall way, beamed ceilings and the original butlers bell. There are two en suite rooms accessed from the car park one of which is dog friendly, with 5 further ensuite rooms in the main house. The house also has a communal lounge area for the guests to relax in after the days activities.

Neighbourhood information

One of the most picturesque of the villages in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park lies in a natural hollow or hole, hence its name. On either side are the limestone headlands of the Tabular Hills, while to the north the land rises steadily to heather-clad Spaunton Moor. A clear moorland stream, Hutton Beck, splashes and winds its way through village green, traditionally kept mown by the sheep that are free to graze. The village green is a perfect place to have a picnic. The roadways around the moors are exceptional for cycling, you may need to bring spare lungs though. And what better place to stargaze, no artificial street lighting makes it the perfect place to lie back and watch the night sky. The village boasts a number of cafes for the light lunch or you can have a hearty meal at the local pub.
