We are in our eighties. From that perspective, we enjoyed Eastbourne very much: walks along the front, Towner gallery, many entertainment options, very good bus service, frequent trains, excellent cafe's, affordable taxis, very friendly people. From the leaflets we saw, it looks a great place for families with kids.

In general Eastbourne is a bit of a kip. Two Wetherspoons in the centre - don’t allow dogs. Fair amount of dodgy people, I didn’t feel safe here.
Had an amazing curry at Shimla fine dining and a good Thai meal also.

You don't go to Eastbourne for excitement (for that, try Brighton further along the coast) but for a relaxing few days, with access to a (pebble) beach and sea, it's fine. Can walk along the promenade and/or the pier and there's enough restaurant/cafe/pubs places around.
One tip: Bibendum gastro-pub (near the station) do great food, inc. Sunday roast.

Eastbourne is a fairly quiet, charming place to visit.
Eastbourne is a fairly quiet, charming place to visit. It combines beautiful downland countryside with all the pleasures of a traditional Seaside resort. It is also high up on the list for providing Cultural activities. There are several large galleries and museums to visit along with several excellent theatres. Restaurants and cafes are in abundance, you will be spoilt for choice. The shopping area of the town has a good mix of Charity shops through to Designer and Bespoke tailoring. There are some lovely independent stores and coffee shops, as well as all the usual retail brands.

Really beautiful hotel, my room was upgraded without my knowledge when i got there. It was a very nice surprise. The hotel is not modern but this added to the experience of being there. Staff were really friendly. I would recommend pre booking a parking spot although there is parking on the street. Location is beautiful and i have nothing bad to say. All in all 10/10 experience 👍
Excellent location both in relation to the seafront and the town centre. Good proximity to transport links if you don't have a car and want to travel further afield. The room was very comfortable and had everything needed for a self-catering stay if that's what you prefer. Nice, large, firm double bed and great natural light, overlooking a pleasant green space behind the hotel. We did manage to set the fire alarm off whilst toasting waffles (well, burning them, actually), so it was good to see everything worked!
The hotel was in a great location, discounted parking on the seafront outside the hotel.
Bar staff were amazing all day. Very attentive.
Has a good pool facility. Maximum of 10 people in the pool. However there was never anymore than 4-6 when we used it.
The hotel was close to the pier and town centre but far enough away to also be quiet at night.
The seating outside was great they had a smoking side and non smoking side. Good spot to sit at night.
We stayed for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it.
We love Eastbourne it is great for a peaceful getaway from the London/Surrey area. The Cavendish is our favourite hotel the staff especially Dana are so welcoming always and the facilities are grand. They match our needs as my wife is a little disabled and finds difficulty in walking so all amenities are close to hand here. Not being far to walk to the beach and also town centre and good hotel lift facilities make it such a restful experience.
Room is large, bed comfortable, there is a sofa to sit on and tea/coffee making facilities. The shower room was clean and well appointed. Breakfast was included in the price which offered various cooked options and cereals etc. The staff are welcoming and attentive at breakfast. Hotel has a car park and is situated within a 10 minute walk of the town centre, local restaurants and the seafront.
Staff helpful let us in room at 2pm as ready, Room upgraded see view (genius) Room 215 on corner good choice & size, ensuite bath. Ironing board, hairdryer etc. Cooked buffet breakfast, other choices. Value wise this hotel takes some beating. Paid £2 park for road permit at desk lasts till 11am next day (covers massive H zone which is most of seafront and sideroads)
The hotel doesn’t serve breakfast at the moment but they can provide a really excellent bag with croissants, yoghurt, butter jam etc. at the reception. I liked the room decor which retained some original features with modern lighting. Loved the fish wallpaper on the feature wall.
Also, they give you a handy map of nearby restaurants (with discount vouchers).
The property was in a perfect location for the pier, seafront and town centre. Eastbourne has an amazing seafront. The flat which is on two floors had everything you could need for a break away from home. The WIFI was good, the flat was really warm and the sofa was comfortable. It was very spacious. Also an excellent TV with access to IPlayer via little red.
Nice quiet location in a residential road with plenty of driveway parking. 3 minute walk to a nice quiet beach , 10 minute walk to local food shops and a 20/25 minute walk along the seafront to Eastbourne Pier and town centre bars , eateries etc.
Apartment spotlessly clean with modern decor. Everything you needed for your stay .
The hotel is situated on the seafront, and has steps and a ramp for access, the reception area is large and airy
the staff at the reception are friendly and the room is adequate
I was there one night so didnt explore the area.
The food was fresh and served with a smile, And the breakfast is all you can eat buffet style
The hotel is easy to find and the location right on the seafront and near the pier and town centre is excellent.
The room was clean and a good size. The hotel allows dogs for a small surcharge. Breakfast was decent and included the usual suspects, bacon, sausage, beans etc and cold items like cereal and yoghurt.
From our point of view, everything went well, the situation of the hotel was great, the parking voucher was a
great saving, the room was lovely with the view out to sea, the breakfast was brilliant, such a choice, we were
more than happy with the whole of our stay, we will definitely be back at a future time.
This is a great little hotel, situated on one of Eastbourne's seafront squares. Ran by a fantastic team who go out of their way to make sure that your stay is a great experience. Struggling like everyone, they have somehow managed to keep prices low, whilst refusing to sacrifice their ethos.
I found the hotel easy to find, it's right on the sea front and I had a sea view.
The room was very comfortable with private bathroom and double bed and a television, staff were helpful and friendly.
The only thing I found a problem was I only had one night there.
Excellent location for visiting sites around East Sussex - 20 minute walk from Birling Gap and the Seven Sisters walks. Our room was spotless, very comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was fantastic and finally the shower, best one I've ever used in a hotel!
It was reasonable- but to be fair it was a very slow week for the hotel so breakfast was cooked to order rather than hot buffet selection and there is no evening dining - but there is a limited room service menu
Our room was awful. Dirty towels. The shower needed to be hand held. £200 sterling for a room that was filthy and a shower that didn’t work. I wouldn’t put my worst enemy in this hotel.
the toilets stank the room out,,,the staff could barely speak English,,,worst hotel I have ever stayed in,,had a bar that was closed because the staff were living in the bar
